Unite and the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCSU) have called off the planned industrial action which was set to close the airports for three days this month. Airport operator BAA has eased plans to alter workers' pension rights.
All seven UK airports operated by BAA which include London Heathrow Airport, Edinburgh Airport, London Stansted Airport and Glasgow Airport would have had to close in the event of industrial action.
The strikes were planned for 24 hours starting at 0600 GMT on 7 and 14 January, and 48 hours from 0600 GMT on 17 January.
It has been announced that talks have been productive and there is an agreement in principle.
